We really see ourselves as people helping people to be safer with properly sharpened tools. We specialize in sharpening beauty hair shears, pet groomer shears and knives. We understand the importance of having proper working order shears to the hair stylist and groomer when serving their clients. The variety of shears used in hair stylist and pet grooming industry requires specific process steps to ensure properly sharpened edges. Our clients need their shears to perform exactly how they want for their customers needs.
For the knife owners, everyone knows a dull knife is far more dangerous in the kitchen than a properly sharpened knife. A sharp knife needs to travel through and perform as the cut is intended.
We use an 18 step process for sharpening modern hair shear designs involving convex, semi-convex and bevelled edge surfaces.
1. Analyse the shear
2. Replace missing hardware
3. Dissassemble shears depending on shear type
4. Clean the shears
5. Mark shears for work assessment
6. Re-condition inside edge rideline when present
7. Set the shear outside edge angle
8. Select abrasives to use based on shear condition and use
9. Create edge burr
10. Refine the edge for specific use
11. Remove the burr
12. Polish outside edge surface for convex shears
13. Clean all residual markings
14. Assemble the shear
15. Remove residual burr
16. Check tip condition
17. Validate shear cut performance
18. Oil and tension adjust shears

Todd has a passion for sharp edges and helping people. With his previous work in designing, maintaining and instructing maintainers on the Canadian Doppler Weather RADAR systems, Todd developed a highly refined skill for troubleshooting problems and working with people in finding solutions. Todd started with his passion for a sharp knife, to skilfully sharpen knives. This passion lead to a desire to be factory trained on shear sharpening equipment to properly sharpen scissors and hair shears. Especially those used by hair stylists, barbers and pet groomers. Some of Todd's family members are into quilting and hair styling. Todd understands the importance of a sharp pair of shears or scissor. Todd’s personal goal is to improve shear and knife edges to new or better than factory condition, when possible. When you have a really bad situation with your knife or shear, Todd will provide you with a proper conditional analysis and possible steps to deal with your tool situation.
